Overview

  • Professor Cook was born in Geelong, Australia where he attended school prior to completing his B.Sc.(Hons) and Ph.D. in Physics at Monash University in Melbourne. He spent 3 years as Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of New England in Armidale Australia before traveling to the US in 1981 to accept the Assistant Professor position at Old Dominion University.

    Research Overview

  • The Cook Research Group specializes in Applied Materials Physics in the areas of corrosion of structural steels and development of specialized corrosion resistant alloys. Research is also centered on the corrosion of historic US Civil War artifacts such as the USS Monitor and CSS Hunley.
