The proposed project will study visitors to the city of Norfolk. Visitors will be surveyedabout their current trip. This study will identify the reasons visitors travel to Norfolk, the services they use, the attractions they visit, the average length of stay, type of accommodation used, and their travel and spending patterns. This study will provide Visit Norfolk’s Norfolk Tourism ResearchFoundation with udated information needed to position the city relative to other cities in the Stateand or Region, and assist in updating a comprehensive marketing plan focused on specific marketsegments. Additionally, this study serves to compliment and extend research from the previousstudy in 2006, and as a precursor to potential future studies on tourism in Coastal Virginia.
